Dr. Eric Ball is Co-Founder and General Partner at Impact Venture Capital, an early stage venture investment firm in information technology. From 2015-16 he served as Chief Financial Officer of C3 IoT. From 2005 to 2015 he served as Senior VP and Treasurer of Oracle Corporation and was named as one of the “100 Most Influential People in Finance” in 2011 by the editors of CFO and Treasury & Risk Management magazines. His team raised $52 billion in acquisition financing for Oracle and managed investments of over $60 billion. He has worked as a finance executive at Fortune 500 companies including AT&T, Avery Dennison, Cisco Systems, and Flextronics.

After studying at the University of Michigan and University of Rochester, Eric earned a Ph.D. in management from Claremont’s Drucker-Ito Graduate School of Management. He served as co-editor of the Journal of Applied Finance from 2012-16. Eric is also a Kauffman Fellow – a selective program to groom leaders of the venture capital industry. He has taught at Rochester, Rutgers, and USC, and co-authored (with Joe LiPuma) the 2012 book No Ivory Tower: What Management Research Can Teach You About How to Run Your Business.

He serves on the Board of Glu Mobile (Nasdaq: GLUU, where he chairs the audit committee), and on the Board of Answers (where he chairs the audit committee), and serves as board advisor for Kyriba.  He lives in Menlo Park, CA with his wife, Sheryl Axline, their two sons Spencer and Carter, and a golden retriever named Cookie.
